Monica O My Darling movie review:
A neo-noir crime comedy that also doubles as a murder mystery, Monica O My Darling is not your usual Bollywood commercial pot. Or at least that's what you want to believe until you watch the 2 hour 10 minute movie and realize that it's so Bollywoodized that you can't beat the twists and turns of the plot. . guard. Average because at the time it was revealed in the teaser release for the film that Andhadhun director Sriram Raghavan would direct the film but Bala took over after five years, a similar experience was expected. Unfortunately, despite the flavor of Raghavan, Monica O My Darling does not come close to the magic of Andhadhun.
The story revolves around Jayant Arkhedkar (Rajkummar Rao), a robotics expert and an ambitious young man, who is dating Nikki (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor) who hopes that one day they will get married and he will lead the Unicorn team of fathers. and Satyanarayan Adhikari (Vijay Kenkre). Even after a promotion that annoys Nishikant Adhikari (Sikander Kher), the path is not easy for Jayant, as he runs into office secretary Monica Machado (Huma Qureshi). Little did Jayant know that Monica was not the only prey he had his eyes on. He continues to abuse Nishikant and Arvind (Bagavathi Perumal), who is part of the company's account group. How these three orchestrate Monica's murder and insert themselves into the plot forms the heart of the film. Then enters ACP Naidu (Radhika Apte), who takes his time in the investigation, which clearly shows that there is more to the eye.
Adapted from the Japanese novel Burutasu No Shinzou by Keigo Higashino, Monica O My Darling has all the makings of a perfect comedy but suffers from major setbacks in its execution. After a solid first half, the movie falters after the interval and the murders without any logic happen at a pace that is hard to understand. Also, a lot of background stories can help move the story along, but after a while, they all start to get confusing and you don't know what to focus on. But I don't see why this movie is so predictable that the number of scenes and twists and turns you can see really makes you want to kick yourself in the back. I don't know what the creators were thinking when they wrote these parts. I mean, are they doubting the intelligence of the audience or are they making their story too big? Only they will know.
Although Bala's direction falters at various points, Yogesh Chandekar's story manages to keep you interested on many fronts. The story has a perfect track, but many roadblocks fall on its way, resulting in a chaotic ride. The dialogues written by Bala and Chandekar are very interesting, with a musical tone, perhaps a feature of the film that can be called a dark film. I liked the sequence where the men plan to kill Monica. Oh yes, they also signed an assassination contract. In fact, even murderers cannot trust each other.
This performance is not an exaggeration but he still likes it. Rajkummar is back in style and with one. He was good in the first half but showed some inconsistency in the second half, he had every frame he appeared in. Huma puts her best foot forward and this is probably one of her best performances. She's comfortable in her own skin, she packs personality to a T. Radhika, despite the small amount of screen time she gets, is working hard to do her not-so-easy role justice. I love how he brings his own personality to the show and makes it a great cop character. Sikander and Akansha are good in their roles although I was surprised to see Sikander's role, although he is very good at what he does, he will be reduced to a cameo.
To say that Monica O My Darling is an artist in the family and that all viewers will love it will be different because it will have people who make choices. And how the developers took a risk by making the ending somewhat open will confuse many people, to say the least. Well, after all, not all suspects in the murder mystery could be the award-winning Andhadhun. With Monica O My Darling, a little better direction in terms of the direction of the story and how to tell it could help with the story.
